CNN’s Valentine’s Day: Boy, 3, on fire runs into tree crying for mom

I am really noticing a trend in online media. Right to the top of the food chain (or bottom, as the case may be) the big websites are pushing more video-linked headlines, and the subject matter is getting more and more disturbing. CNN today ran the following headline linked to a video: Boy, 3, on fire runs into tree crying for mom.

I didn’t click. I don’t want to see a 3 year old child being burned. Am I alone in this? Do people really want to see this?

I’ll admit it. I rented Jackass II. These idiots crack me up. Not as much in II as in I, but they still cracked me up. But that’s all staged. A little boy being burned is not entertainment, CNN.

Shame.

And as it turns out, Drupal runs rather well on IBM Linux servers while plugged-into IBM’s DB2 Express-C database. The final tutorial covers just exactly how to do that.

Keeping my Mullet

Last year someone remarked that tag clouds are the new mullet. That may be true. Representation of taxonomy via tag cloud may not be the best way to do things most of the time. However, I still see a use for them in the proper circumstance, such as my delicious tags on the lower right side of this page.

So, I’m keeping my mullet for now, until someone shows me a better way to pack that many links into that small a space and convey some information about weight at the same time.
